Why They Hate Homeschools

There is no doubt that the public school system is broke like a joke. Kids are forced into classrooms where inept teachers attempt to indoctrinate them with liberal and humanistic viewpoints. These wannabe educators are coerced upon these young minds by union contracts which refuse to hold them accountable. Well, now judges are getting in on the action of deciding the best education for our children.

Get To School!

Case in point: a judge in North Carolina just recently ruled that a mother who was homeschooling her children is now being forced to put her kids in public school.

The decision was made by Judge Ned Mangum of Wake County. Mr
. Mangum was handling the divorce proceeding of Thomas and Vanessa Mills. Mr. Mills was outspoken about being against homeschooling.

In this case, judges should be ruling what's in favor in the interests of the children, a phrase the judge used.

"I thought Ms. Mills had done a good job [in homeschooling]," he said. "It was great for them to have that access, and [I had] no problems with homeschooling. I said public schooling would be a good complement."

When pushed about it, he acquiesced that his judgment was in place of the mother's. It doesn't make much sense why either given the fact that the three children, ages 10, 11, and 12 (didn't waste any time, did they) have been tested to be above their grade level by two years.

California went through this same thing recently and the court had to reverse it's own decision against homeschooling close to a year ago.

Reading Between The Lines

What is this about really? Is it just that the government is simply looking out for the welfare of our children? Is it that the public school system is attacking the growing homeschooling trend across the nation?

It goes deeper than that.

It's economically more viable for the education for the children, costing only $450.00 per year. This
does pose as a threat to a union teacher's job which is why charter school and homeschool education is vilified. There are over 1 million children in the United States that are homeschooled and that number is increasing.

Some are even calling for pulling their children out of public schools which wouldn't be a bad idea all around.

One thing that's overwhelming across the board when it comes to homeschooling is the fact that over 75% of them attend religious services of some kind, many being taught this as part of their homeschool curriculum.

When parents were asked by the
National Center for Education Statistics why they were homeschooling, the top three answers were concern about environment of other schools (31.2%), to provide religious or moral instruction (29.8%), and dissatisfaction with academic instruction at other schools (16.5%).

They Will Hate You

One of the things that I've been repeating in the last half year in the new home church my wife and I began in July was the reality that the world will hate us.
If the world hateth you, ye know that it hath hated me before it hated you. (John 15:18)
The reality of being a Christian is that we won't be liked. It's a bad sign when the world begins to call you its friend.
Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for in the same manner did their fathers to the false prophets. ( Luke 6:26)
These kinds of things, though appalling and wrong, shouldn't surprise us. It comes with the territory of being a Christian. We should expect it. However, it doesn't mean we just lay down and let this kind of evil action continue.
I charge thee in the sight of God, and of Christ Jesus, who shall judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be urgent in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure the sound doctrine; but, having itching ears, will heap to themselves teachers after their own lusts; and will turn away their ears from the truth, and turn aside unto fables. (2 Timothy 4:1-4)
Folks, we have arrived.

Now is not the time to be passive and do nothing. We do what's right and stand for what's right because we serve the God of what's right. We do it His way, which is the right way.

Edmund Burke is famous for saying, "
All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." He also said, "Whenever a separation is made between liberty and justice, neither, in my opinion, is safe."

But the Bible says it best:
To him therefore that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin. (James 4:17)
For so is the will of God, that by well-doing ye should put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: as free, and not using your freedom for a cloak of wickedness, but as bondservants of God. (1 Peter 2:15-16).

Nurse Suspended For Offering Prayer

A nurse over in Great Britain is finding her job in jeopardy because she offered to pray for someone.

Caroline Petrie is facing disciplinary action because her employer, North Somerset Primary Care Trust, stated that she failed to show "personal and professional commitment to equality and diversity' when she offered to pray for an elderly woman.

Petrie has stated that she doesn't proselytize when she's on the job.

"I simply couldn't believe that I have been suspended over this," she told the London Telegraph. "I knew I hadn't done anything wrong. All I am trying to do is help my patients, many of whom want me to pray for them."

The woman was reportedly not offended. It had taken her by surprise and she was concerned it would offend others.

However, this was not the only time that Petrie had been disciplined for offering a prayer. She had offered a prayer card to an elderly male patient two months previous who had accepted it gladly. However, the caretaker of the man was not in support of the move.

"My concern is for the person as a whole, not just their health," she said. "I was told not to force my faith on anyone but I could respond if patients themselves brought up the subject [of religion]."

Petrie has contacted the
Christian Legal Centre for representation, an organization that seeks to promote religious freedom.

"Caroline Petrie has been suspended pending an investigation into the matter," a spokesman for North Somerset Primary Care Trust told the Guardian. "She is a bank nurse and she has been told we will not be using her in this capacity until the outcome of our investigation is known"

"We always take any concerns raised by our patients most seriously and conscientiously investigate any matter of this nature brought to our attention, the spokesman continued. "We are always keen to be respectful of our patients' views and sensitivity as well as those of our staff."

If you want to express your concern over this, you can contact North Somerset Primary Care trust by emailing them at pals@nsomerset-pct.nhs.uk. Or keep up on the story at the Christian Legal Centre website.
