Why They Hate Homeschools

There is no doubt that the public school system is broke like a joke. Kids are forced into classrooms where inept teachers attempt to indoctrinate them with liberal and humanistic viewpoints. These wannabe educators are coerced upon these young minds by union contracts which refuse to hold them accountable. Well, now judges are getting in on the action of deciding the best education for our children.

Get To School!

Case in point: a judge in North Carolina just recently ruled that a mother who was homeschooling her children is now being forced to put her kids in public school.

The decision was made by Judge Ned Mangum of Wake County. Mr
. Mangum was handling the divorce proceeding of Thomas and Vanessa Mills. Mr. Mills was outspoken about being against homeschooling.

In this case, judges should be ruling what's in favor in the interests of the children, a phrase the judge used.


"I thought Ms. Mills had done a good job [in homeschooling]," he said. "It was great for them to have that access, and [I had] no problems with homeschooling. I said public schooling would be a good complement."

When pushed about it, he acquiesced that his judgment was in place of the mother's. It doesn't make much sense why either given the fact that the three children, ages 10, 11, and 12 (didn't waste any time, did they) have been tested to be above their grade level by two years.


California went through this same thing recently and the court had to reverse it's own decision against homeschooling close to a year ago.


Reading Between The Lines


What is this about really? Is it just that the government is simply looking out for the welfare of our children? Is it that the public school system is attacking the growing homeschooling trend across the nation?


It goes deeper than that.


It's economically more viable for the education for the children, costing only $450.00 per year. This
does pose as a threat to a union teacher's job which is why charter school and homeschool education is vilified. There are over 1 million children in the United States that are homeschooled and that number is increasing.

Some are even calling for pulling their children out of public schools which wouldn't be a bad idea all around.

One thing that's overwhelming across the board when it comes to homeschooling is the fact that over 75% of them attend religious services of some kind, many being taught this as part of their homeschool curriculum.


When parents were asked by the
National Center for Education Statistics why they were homeschooling, the top three answers were concern about environment of other schools (31.2%), to provide religious or moral instruction (29.8%), and dissatisfaction with academic instruction at other schools (16.5%).

They Will Hate You


One of the things that I've been repeating in the last half year in the new home church my wife and I began in July was the reality that the world will hate us.
If the world hateth you, ye know that it hath hated me before it hated you. (John 15:18)
The reality of being a Christian is that we won't be liked. It's a bad sign when the world begins to call you its friend.
Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for in the same manner did their fathers to the false prophets. ( Luke 6:26)
These kinds of things, though appalling and wrong, shouldn't surprise us. It comes with the territory of being a Christian. We should expect it. However, it doesn't mean we just lay down and let this kind of evil action continue.
I charge thee in the sight of God, and of Christ Jesus, who shall judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be urgent in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure the sound doctrine; but, having itching ears, will heap to themselves teachers after their own lusts; and will turn away their ears from the truth, and turn aside unto fables. (2 Timothy 4:1-4)
Folks, we have arrived.

Now is not the time to be passive and do nothing. We do what's right and stand for what's right because we serve the God of what's right. We do it His way, which is the right way.


Edmund Burke is famous for saying, "
All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." He also said, "Whenever a separation is made between liberty and justice, neither, in my opinion, is safe."

But the Bible says it best:
To him therefore that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin. (James 4:17)
For so is the will of God, that by well-doing ye should put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: as free, and not using your freedom for a cloak of wickedness, but as bondservants of God. (1 Peter 2:15-16).

Obama: I Cannot Tell A Lie. I Lied.

The mantra throughout the 2008 presidential campaign was change. All of the things that Barack Obama would do to change what's happening in Washington. Yet this new Obama-nation sees plenty of "more of the same" with no change at all.

Obama ran a campaign based on rhetoric against President Bush and accused opponent McCain of being a carbon copy. Yet the changes that he's attempting are disastrous for this country and he's not making all the changes he said he would.

For example:


  • Terrorist prisoners in Afghanistan will still be held without a trial. He's O.K. with that though he made it clear he wasn't.
  • Those tax cuts for the wealthy we heard over and over that he said he was going to yank? Yeah. They're staying for the full run.
  • The Bush administration's assertion that "state secrets" privilege to avoid releasing information? Obama and his staff has made it clear three times that it isn't going anywhere.

It appears that the Obama staff are glimpsing the harsh realities of governing a nation and what that means. He may have talked a good game during the election but it was a different story when the perspective of..oh...truth set in.
This stimulus bill will prove to be another, "Hmm. Maybe we shouldn't have done that" moment.

The Justice Department had to eat crow on their position to uphold telecommunications companies who can't be sued for helping the government in obtaining wiretaps in the interest of national security.

"The government is compelled to defend (the) statute as long as it can reasonably do so," spokesman Matthew Miller said in a statement.

He really didn't want to say that hence the clause at the end. Regardless, this is not what Obama supporters want to hear.

"There are some troubling signs that can't be ignored," Anthony Romero of the American Civil Liberties Union wrote recently.

During his campaign, Obama swore he wouldn't take public funds for his campaign...and then he did. That should have been a red flag to anyone paying attention.

The Bible is clear:


But let your speech be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: and whatsoever is more than these is of the evil one. (Matthew 5:37)

I don't expect Obama to follow that since he's not a Christian. Yes, I said that on purpose with full assurance that it's the right statement. Doesn't matter that he let the faith based initiative program continue (another hold over from the Bush administration) or that he went to Jeremiah Wright's church (who also is NOT a Christian). He may have the religious thing down pat, but he's not a Christian.

The bottom line is that he should have looked at things a little closer and said zero about which he knew nothing about to prevent him having egg on his face. Like now.

Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise; When he shutteth his lips, he is esteemed as prudent. (Proverbs 17:28)

Follow along folks as the walls slowly begin to crumble, the onset of truth settles in, and a landslide of inept bureaucratic moves shows itself in the plain light of day.

Obama's Love Affair With Abortion

I don't understand the obsession that Obama has with abortion. It appears as if he's on a mission to systematically increase the mass slaughter of the unborn and he's willing to force medical professionals across the country to do it.

Conscience? We Don't Need No Stinking Conscience
!

One of the last acts of the Bush administration was to pass a regulation that allowed doctors and health care professionals to refuse to perform abortions based on moral ramifications. A Health and Human Services (I just find that title ironic) announced that they will post their intentions and open a month long discussion on the issue from medical professionals around the nation as well as the public at large. That official did not want to be named because the notice had not been completed yet.


"It would be a horrible move. These regulations were a long time coming," said Tom McClusky, vice president at the
Family Research Council. "What they seek to do is protect patients, nurses, doctors and other health care professionals from being forced to violate their consciences."

As always, it was the wording in the bill that is the bone of contention. Supporters said that is clarified federal policies and increased awareness to medical professionals about what they were allowed to do in keeping with their conscience. Opponents said it was too vague and argue that it woul
d reduce access to health care services.

"I think it's a wonderful step," Rep. Diana DeGette (D-Colo.), co-chair of the Congressional Pro-Abortion...errr...Pro-Choice Caucus. She's introduced legislation to overturn the regulation.


"That rule was actually a poorly drafted last-minute attempt to, I think, restrict health care access and I think it would have had far-reaching and unintended consequences."

The White House released a statement saying Obama supports a "carefully crafted" conscience clause, not Bush's version.
In other words, make it more difficult for doctors, nurses, and others, to refuse to perform abortions.

The Change Hasn't Changed


In my post
Four Reasons To Have An Abortion, I laid out the facts as to why people have an abortion. None of them are reasons. All of them are excuses. More importantly, as a Christian (a real one), we should oppose this kind thing at every turn. The fact that this man supports such a heinous act and calls it "health care" should be a big red flag. The Bible is clear:
Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! (Isaiah 5:20)

Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, yea, for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have ripped up the women with child of Gilead, that they may enlarge their border. (Amos 1:13)
We have to stand against this, pray against this evil and be what God has called us to be: beacons of light in a land of darkness.

Get on the horn right now and start giving your representatives and senators a call. Email them and let them know that you oppose this.

Obama: "I Screwed Up."

No one is perfect. We all know that. Yet, from the way Obama was lauded as the answer to all of America's woes during the 2008 Presidential Election, you would have thought he could do no wrong. Well, reality has hit Obama...and it's not pretty.

The past couple days has seen two of Obama's nominations, Tom Daschle and Nancy Killifer, back out due to tax troubles. This just adds insult to injury as Bill Richardson also stepped aside from his nomination amid a grand jury investigation over state contracts.

As far as Obama being a good judge of character, this should come as no surprise. Remember, this is the same man who went to Jeremiah Wright's church for twenty years and defended him though he's a racist. The same man who had a relationship, however ephemeral, with Bill Ayers, an admitted terrorist.

This really isn't a glowing gift he has here.

"I screwed up," Obama said repeatedly when his nominees backed out. "I'm frustrated with myself, with our team."

Already he's had to backtrack and say he's going to bring in a "new era of responsibility". But...you've only been in office for two weeks and you have to change already? Of course he does. Remember, his whole mantra was change.

So far, Obama's vision and leadership is tore up from the floor up. Even senator Dick Durbin of Illinois admitted that "It really sets us back a step."

What we're seeing is a slate of things to come. The scary thing is that these people are running the United States of America.

Lord...have mercy.

Nurse Suspended For Offering Prayer

A nurse over in Great Britain is finding her job in jeopardy because she offered to pray for someone.

Caroline Petrie is facing disciplinary action because her employer, North Somerset Primary Care Trust, stated that she failed to show "personal and professional commitment to equality and diversity' when she offered to pray for an elderly woman.

Petrie has stated that she doesn't proselytize when she's on the job.

"I simply couldn't believe that I have been suspended over this," she told the London Telegraph. "I knew I hadn't done anything wrong. All I am trying to do is help my patients, many of whom want me to pray for them."

The woman was reportedly not offended. It had taken her by surprise and she was concerned it would offend others.

However, this was not the only time that Petrie had been disciplined for offering a prayer. She had offered a prayer card to an elderly male patient two months previous who had accepted it gladly. However, the caretaker of the man was not in support of the move.

"My concern is for the person as a whole, not just their health," she said. "I was told not to force my faith on anyone but I could respond if patients themselves brought up the subject [of religion]."


Petrie has contacted the
Christian Legal Centre for representation, an organization that seeks to promote religious freedom.

"Caroline Petrie has been suspended pending an investigation into the matter," a spokesman for North Somerset Primary Care Trust told the Guardian. "She is a bank nurse and she has been told we will not be using her in this capacity until the outcome of our investigation is known"

"We always take any concerns raised by our patients most seriously and conscientiously investigate any matter of this nature brought to our attention, the spokesman continued. "We are always keen to be respectful of our patients' views and sensitivity as well as those of our staff."

Illegals: "Yay! Free Money!"

This is the beginning of one great big mess.

WHAT? IT'S NOT MY MONEY...IS IT?

The stimulus package that was recently approved has a big fat loophole in it. The legislation, which would send tax credits of $500 per worker and $1,000 per couple, expressly disqualifies nonresident aliens, but it would allow people who don't have Social Security numbers to be eligible for the checks.

Undocumented immigrants who are not eligible for a Social Security number can file tax returns with an alternative number. A House-passed version of the economic recovery bill and one making its way through the Senate would allow anyone with such a number, called an individual taxpayer identification number, to qualify for the tax credits.

In a nutshell, someone who is in this country illegally. Brilliant! In February of 2008 which was when we had our last stimulus package (which obviously stimulated nothing since our economy is going further in the toilet as I write this), there was a provision to have strict requirements to cash the checks. Namely, a social security number.

Here is where the republicans got it together. Not one republican voted for passage of the bill.

You would think that they would learn that this kind of plan doesn't work. In this plan,they hold back tax cuts from the wealthy (who pay the majority of the taxes for this country to begin with) and businesses that have a chance to jump start this anemic economic situation. It has disaster written all over it with a capital D.

ALL IS NOT LOST


Throwing money at a economic problem doesn't solve the problem. You save, spend prudently, and invest wisely. Of this we can be certain as the Lord's children:

The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing. (Psalm 34:10)

We have to understand that the world is the Lord's:

If I were hungry, I would not tell thee: for the world is mine, and the fulness thereof. And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me. (Psalm 50:13,15)

The last place we need to look to fix this country is the government. They got us into this predicament. We need to appeal to the Owner, pray for mercy and goodness to once again fall upon this land and trust that He'll be true to His word. In the meantime, we stand against those who are getting in the way of that through prayer and our voices being lifted up for righteousness and Truth. Easy? Nope. But I stand and believe on this:

With men this is impossible; but with God, all things are possible. (Matt. 19:26b)

"We'd Rather Kill Babies, Thank You!"

HERE WE GO!

I knew it wasn't going to be long before the leftist agenda started up in all of its ugliness.
In a move that many will excuse as they see the true face of Obama show, he has begun by lifting the ban on funding for overseas abortions staying true to his leftist agenda. I'm sure Planned Parenthood is quite happy.

I was pleasantly surprised to see in the roll call of senators voting for the prohibition that one of my senators, a senator who has been emotionally unstable the last few years, voted to uphold the prohibition. But with a final tally of 37 to 60, it was a sad day for the unborn.
Another important thing to note was the fact that four republican senators jumped ship and joined the democrats in lifting the ban. Those senators were Collins (ME), Snowe (ME), Specter (PA), and Murkowski (AK). Chambliss, whose seat was in the balance for quite some time, didn't even vote.

Also important to note was the one democrat who voted to uphold the ban which was Nelson from Nebraska.

This all is to set the stage for what's to come in the Freedom Of Choice Act (FOCA). This will kill any bills and laws passed by the states that ban such things as partial birth abortions or require parental notification of an abortion for a minor.

GET READY FOR THE RIDE

Yes. The ride to socialism has begun. We will join great countries like Russia and emulate great states like California in a system that will drive us further and further away from the free market, capitalism, and freedom in general.

The bible is clear:



My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
(Hosea 4:6)

This country has forgotten its roots laid in the foundational principles found in that great and eternal book, the Holy Bible. We have traded science for faith, idols for God, and morality for relativity.

It is clear that the grassroots efforts in this country of citizens like me and you needs to rise up against the coming disaster of a godless, fiscally irresponsible, infanticidal, tyrannical government.


Prepare yourselves...and don't forget to hold on to your guns and religion. You'll need them.

How To Pray For Obama

Well what many hoped wouldn't happen has happened. Barack Hussein Obama is the president of the United States. As we see this administration ushered in, what many people are saying is that we should pray for Obama. This is true. Yet, when we say that, what do we mean? How exactly should we pray for Barack Obama?


LORD, LET HIM FAIL


This, of course, is not what many Christians think about when we say we should pray for Obama. Many would argue that it doesn't foster the great commandment of love. That can't be further from the truth.

Barack Obama as president does not automatically mean it's a good thing for the United States. Socialism has proven time and time again throughout history to be the downfall of a nation. Infringing on the freedom that God Himself has given us and slowly taking that away is never a good thing. Praying for his success in supporting and strengthening the genocide of 3,000 babies a day is not what Christians should support. Being hostile to God's word, the principles this nation was built upon, is never a good thing.

We should pray against that and every other policy that is unbiblical, anti-Christ, and ungodly. We should pray that he fails in this and all others. That is love for our country, our fellow man, and for God.

Scripture points out over and over that when a king was chosen that they set the tone and reflected the spiritual condition of a nation. So Barack Obama as president is not a good thing. God is telling us something. We better listen.


CHANGE


The mantra that we heard throughout the election from Barack Ob
ama was change. Well, there is some change that we should be praying for and that's Barack Obama's.

We definitely need to pray that Barack Obama would change in terms of him becoming a believer in Jesus Christ. As the old saying goes, he needs Jesus.


If you think he's a Christian, you are sorely mistaken. Let me be the first to shout it from the rooftops that
Barack Obama is not saved. He's religious. That never saved anybody.

He's a humanist trying to masquerade as a Christian and it's clear that many aren't buying it (some for the wrong reasons but that's for another post). A life changing, mind altering encounter with the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords is what saves and Obama needs one....yesterday.


MY PRAYER

The prayer that should be going out across the nation and the prayer that I will continually offer up to the Lord Jesus Christ is this:
Forgive us Lord for being remiss in our duties, for compromising the values and principles which You put in place to make this nation great to begin with. We've failed in our turn on the watch and we've reaped what we've sown. Have mercy on us Lord.

We proclaim Lord that You are our God. You are our leader. You are the one who should be worshiped. You and You alone are the Messiah.


Give us the strength and the courage to stand for Your truth unabashedly. Let our lives reflect You. Let You be first and foremost in our thoughts. Let Your word rule in our hearts.


Lord God, let Your righteousness shine through this dark time. Let those in our government who are Your enemies fail at every turn. Let every policy, every bill, every law, every stroke of the pen that goes against You and Your word fail.


You alone turn the hearts of leaders and people. Let Your hand turn this nation back again to be a beacon of light and hope. Let those who would want to make this simply political have their eyes opened and understand that this is all spiritual. Send a revival Lord.


Lord, You have shown us where we are at spiritually as a nation. Have mercy on us Lord.

Turn the heart of president Barack Obama to You Father. Let him see the truth Lord. Let him understand more than he's understood before. Give him wisdom to deal prudently and righteously. Change His heart Holy Spirit to be saved from the wrath to come and serve You and You alone in spirit and in truth.

What's A Conservative Christian? - Part III

The last couple of posts we've been looking at the conservative Christian and what it means to be one. We've taken a look at a couple of the key pillars of conservatism and explained how from a biblical perspective that the tenets agree with the Bible.

Understand that whatever we do and think that it has to line up with scripture, not the other way around. Scripture is the final authority.

Today we're going to end it with three other pillars of conservative philosophy: pro life, free market/capitalism, and what many call traditional family values but I'm gonna call what it is which is anti-homosexuality.

Pro-Life

I have touched on this in detail in another post titled Abortion And Slavery: Peas In A Pod and I want to refer you there to read on it. But in the interest of keeping everything in one place, I'll reiterate some points while adding some others.


The big debate today over abortion hinges on when life begins. Conservatives belief it begins at the moment of conception and science agrees wholeheartedly. But scripture says that life begins before conception when God thinks about you.

Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. (Jeremiah 1:5)

In Exodus we have a situation of infanticide being instituted by the Pharaoh and scripture testifying that this was evil (Exodus 1:15-22). Whether this was instituted by the government or by an individual, the act is what is evil. It shows a callous disdain for human life. Instead of looking at life as being precious and marvelous, agreeing with scripture that "I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well" (Psalm 139:14), we excuse this barbaric and murderous act as some right. Conservatives don't believe that and neither does scripture.


Traditional Family Values (Anti-Homosexuality)

This one pillar is a new one because of the growth of homosexuality in this country since the late 70s. Some may argue earlier. Nevertheless, we've had to take a stand on this and now it's one of the pillars of our platform.

Homosexuality is CLEARLY a disgusting, abominable act before the Lord:

Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. (Leviticus 18:22)

If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. (Leviticus 20:13)

For this cause God gave them up unto vile passions: for their women changed the natural use into that which is against nature: and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another, men with men working unseemliness, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was due. And even as they refused to have God in their knowledge, God gave them up unto a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not fitting; (Romans 1:26)

Or know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with men, (1 Corinthians 6:9)

On and on and on.

The reason for this is that it goes against nature itself and history has proven time and time again that once a society embraces homosexuality, that society ceases to exist. Allowing gay marriage is a stamp of approval to continue in a self- destructive lifestyle not only for those involved but for the nation's survival.

Alarmism? Sure. Alarmism based on Truth is a warning from God we had better take heed.


Free Market/Capitalism

When we talk about free market, we're tying to it the idea of limited government and personal responsibility and therefore the biblical reasons that apply there bleed over to this one.

I'm going to recommend a thorough analysis of biblical economics from Gary North who has done extensive research into the subject. I also recommend anything from Larry Burkett. But today, I'm going to give you the main points of why free market capitalism is biblical.


The Bible says in Galatians 6:4-5:

But let each man prove his own work, and then shall he have his glorying in regard of himself alone, and not of his neighbor. For each man shall bear his own burden.

It also says in 2 Thessolonians 3:10:

For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, If any will not work, neither let him eat.

When it comes to individual responsibility tied to free market, one of the passages that just screams at this in the area of finance is the parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14 - 30). In this parable the Lord, clearly Jesus, was expecting His servants to produce a profit. He gives them all a different amount. He didn't give them all the same amount as socialists want to do in their redistribution of wealth philosophy. He gave according to their ability and wanted results. The first two worked hard and got results. The last didn't and what was given to him was given to the one that had produced the most. All because the servant was lazy and didn't want to work.

The Bible always says that hard work will produce wealth and a lack of nothing (Proverbs 6:10-11, 14:23, 28:19, 1 Thessolonians 4:10b-12). Wealth is not evil as liberals love to pontificate even though they themselves are no where near poor while their constituents stay poor. You'd think that would be a hint.

It's our attitude towards wealth that's evil (1 Timothy 6:10), not wealth in and of itself.

Deuteronomy 28:12-13 states:

Jehovah will open unto thee his good treasure the heavens, to give the rain of thy land in its season, and to bless all the work of thy hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow. And Jehovah will make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if thou shalt hearken unto the commandments of Jehovah thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them.

One sure way to get out of poverty is to start working hard at what God has gifted you at and trust that God will be true to His word. Working hard means that. It won't be easy. But diligence will produce no lack. To say that it's the government's responsibility to make sure everyone gets the same thing is ludicrous and unbilblical.

In the book of Acts 4:32-37, we have the evidence of what happens when our hearts are changed and we act as a true Christian community. This was not by force but by individual choice. When that happens in a free market full of hard working people, no one lacks a thing. It was not done by force of the governing body of the apostles for in the next chapter, we have a situation where Peter confronts two people who lied and said they had given all when they really hadn't. Peter makes it clear:

While it remained, did it not remain thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thy power? How is it that thou hast conceived this thing in thy heart? thou has not lied unto men, but unto God. (Acts 5:4)

It was their property to do with as they chose and no one was forcing them to do otherwise. Whether they gave or not, no one was going to take it away from them or look differently at them because they hadn't.

Socialism forces people to give what they have worked hard for to others that they do not know all in the supposed interest of equality and need. But God's economy works in a way where people have the freedom to choose what to do with the fruit from their labor and not have it extorted from them in the guise of taxes, tariffs, and fees. Socialism likes to spread your wealth how it sees fit, not how you see fit even though you worked for it. Socialism promotes oppression while capitalism promotes freedom.

Behold, that which I have seen to be good and to be comely is for one to eat and to drink, and to enjoy good in all his labor, wherein he laboreth under the sun, all the days of his life which God hath given him: for this is his portion. Every man also to whom God hath given riches and wealth, and hath given him power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to rejoice in his labor - this is the gift of God. (Ecclesiastes 5:18-19)

This is the laborer's portion, not someone else's who doesn't work for it. Let the laborer decide how to distribute what they earn. In addition, righteous wealth is God's gift. To tamper with that and say that it should be given to someone else is to say that God doesn't know what He's doing and is an affront against God. Socialism, as much as MLK wanted to support it, is anti-Bible.

So yeah, he was wrong.

So Now You Know

So know you know why I'm a conservative Christian and why many like me are. Because it lines up with the principles and tenets of the scriptures.

I could go on with the death penalty, gun control, immigration, the whole wop and I probably will touch on each of those individually at some time in the future. But I really wanted to just hit on the majors. We can do the minors at another time.

I'd be interested in hearing the views of some people and why they are Christians and a conservative. So make sure you leave comments as this is meant to be more of a detailed summary overview.

What's A Conservative Christian? - Part II

What a difference a day makes.

In that time, Christians come to my blog and just had a hissy fit over what I'm writing and how I'm writing it. On the one hand, I find it pitiful because they can't seem to actually read what I post and interpret it correctly. On the other hand, I find it humorous because...well..
.they can't seem to read what I post and interpret it correctly.

My Conservative Christian Creed really got 'em riled up. So I feel that I would be remiss if I didn't finish it for them. Not to be annoying...but this may take a little longer than I thought.

Yesterday I laid out, from my own words, what being a conservative Christian meant. Today I'm going to present stance by stance, from a Biblical
perspective (as always), the conservative platform and why they're congruent with the Bible. My focus is going to be personal responsibility and limited government.


Limited Government

As a Christian, we understand that the best form of government is a theocracy where God is ruling things. However, since that's not here and won't be for a good minute, even if the rapture happened today, we have a government run by man.


In 1 Samuel 8, the people say they want a king. God Himself says it's a bad idea. However, since the people rejected God, He gave them what they w
anted but laid out the consequences of their decision. Their hearts were so hardened that they didn't care.

Because the heart of man is deceitful and desperately wicked (Jeremiah 17:9), having him rule over other men is simply not in man's best interest as long as sin exists. This is played out so many times in the Bible that I'm not even going to go there. If you read 1 and 2 Kings, you'll get where I'm coming f
rom.

King David realized this in 2 Samuel 24. He had sinned against the Lord and had realized his sin, God had given him three choices as punishment.:

And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let us fall now into the hand of the LORD; for his mercies are great: and let me not fall into the hand of man. (1 Samuel 24:14)

This really goes to the root of why limited government is the way to go.


Personal Responsibility

Oh Mylanta. Where in the world do I begin?

Because I believe scripture says it so much better than I do, I'll just go ahead and post a small sampling of what the Bible says on this:

The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin
Deuteronomy 24:16) .

If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it (Proverbs 9:12).

...the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him
(Ezekiel 18:20b).

But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. For every man shall bear his own burden. (Galatians 6:4-5)

There are more. Suffice it to say that the Bible speaks plainly about personal responsibility and how we individually are held accountable for what we do and don't do.

These two stances have ridiculously strong support from a biblical perspective and therefore I'm down like Charlie Brown. In like Flynn.

Next post: fiscal conservatism, pro-life, and anti-gay marriage or anti-homosexuality. Take your pick (yeah. I called it like it was instead of wrapping that up with the phrase 'traditional family values'. I know...I'm just mean).

What's A Conservative Christian? - Part I

With the way the word conservative has been demonized everywhere a liberal has the forum to give an opinion, it's no wonder that people would get the wrong idea of what it truly means to be a conservative, especially a conservative that's a Christian (trust me, they're not the same). Today, I'm going to begin to define what that means.

Because I don't want there to be any misunderstanding, I'm going to take my time with this. Even so, there may be some of you who wholly do not agree with me and you're welcome to comment.

Though not widely popularized, there are many political parties: democrat, republican, libertarian, green , independent, constitution, falconist, on and on. Each party has it's own philosophy. These philosophies define the foundation of the party's core beliefs. They are liberal, moderate, and conservative.

I'll explain in other posts why I'm not a democrat and why I'm not a republican though I'm still registered as one. I am a Christian that's politically conservative. Or a conservative Christian. Take your pick.

What does that mean? Let me explain in my own words.


The Conservative Christian Creed

I believe in the Holy Bible, the Old and New Testaments. I believe that it testifies to who God truly is. I believe it is God's word and the final authority for mankind and how He would want us to conduct ourselves as His creation. I believe that His word is borne out of love and, so being, works in the best interests of His creation.

I believe that the laws of man are only beneficial when they agree with the express law of God. I believe that everything should be tested by God's law and that it is the foundation of true freedom.

I believe that God, being eternal, reflects in His law that same eternalness. That it is timeless and therefore applicable from generation to generation.

I believe that the moral foundation of a nation defines that nation and the principles by which they live. I believe that when the moral fabric of a society strays away from God and His law, that society sets itself up for God's judgment as history has shown repeatedly.



Why Conservative?

All of that being said, you may be asking why conservative. Aren't there Christians that are liberal? I suppose there are but I believe that they have got to have a crisis of conscious and doctrine if they kotow to an agenda that is anti-Christ.

The conservative philosophy is founded on a belief in things like limited government, encouraging industry, personal responsibility (something that is just straight from the pages of scripture), pro life, pro traditional marriage (In other words, anti-gay marriage. Hey, call an ace and ace), pro Constitution (freedom of religion, freedom of the press, personal defense). These are the main tenets of the conservative agenda and line up with the principles of scripture. Therefore I stand in that camp.

Now, how are these things biblical? We'll look at each one through the eyes of scripture and see if each can stand up in my next post.
